Ortho Retainers

We at Dr.Khazane Dental Clinic, Specialized Orthodontic Treatment Center in Miyapur, get a lot of cases, where patients undergo a long orthodontic journey to align their teeth over months and sometimes years..yet somehow get distracted/ ignore the most important step post alignment- wearing or fixing a retainer.

Here are the different types of retainer that could be opted by your orthodontist for the last phase of alignment and keeping that perfect smile!

The HDL Orthodontic retainer is a removable retainer used to maintain the position of the teeth generally after orthodontic treatment. A thin thermoformed appliance offers excellent clarity and conforms to the exact contours of the teeth. The Orthodontic retainer is cost-effective and discreet and due to its minimal palatal coverage, it has become a favorite for both clinicians and patients.

  1. The Hard Orthodontic Retainer can also be referred to as an Essix Retainer or a Vacuum Formed Retainer (VFR)
  2. Not to be used on a patient suffering from bruxism

A comfortable classic, the Hawley Retainer has long history of patient satisfaction. The labial bow both maintains the ideal arch and allows the clinician to make gentle post treatment adjustments to the anterior teeth. Furthermore the Hawley allows the teeth to contact naturally, allowing the teeth to settle post movement. The acrylic baseplate makes the Hawley a highly durable and desirable appliance which is comfortable to wear, robust and easy to clean.

The Bonded retainer, otherwise referred to as the fixed retainer is a permanent wire retainer that is bent according to the contours of the teeth and bonded to the lingual / palatal surface of the anterior teeth. It is designed to ensure that the post-treatment positions of the teeth are retained. Made using Flattened 8 strand braided wire, it has a lower profile than other leading brands and cuts easily without fraying.

KEY BENEFITS:

  1. Retains teeth post orthodontic treatment
  2. Stabilises mobile teeth
  3. Discreet
  4. Fixed to lingual / palatal aspect of the teeth, patient cannot remove. BETTER RESULTS.
